Poetry Day 7: Greatest Fear

Darkness slowly approaches me
As I watch as my loved ones walk away.
I close my eyes hoping not to see
Who will leave and who will stay.

The cold grip of panic clutches at my chest.
My breaths come faster
And I try not to get stressed,
But my heart shatters.

I curl up on the floor
Missing the comfort they provide.
The darkness finally reaches my core
Where inside I have died.
