The Doll (Inktober Day 30: Ominous)

I didn’t know what I would be walking into, but I stepped forward anyway.

The room was cloaked with an ominous silence.

All life seemed to have been snuffed out of the room.

Not a single figure moved, and I began panicking.

What happened to everyone here?

Suddenly, the silence is broken by the sound of wailing.

I cautiously approach where I hear the sound coming from, and I find a doll.

As I go to pick it up, a foreboding feeling washes over me.

I pause, but I ignore the warning and pick the doll up.

As I pick it up, the eyes of the doll open wide.

The red eyes bore into mine, and it comes alive.

I feel my strength leave me as I try to resist the possession, but it is no use.

My vision fades, and as I come back around, I look up to see my body.

It smiles using my mouth.

“Thank you for my freedom,” it says as it places me down, now in the body of the doll.

I am left in the room with the rest of the dead, as my body walks out of the room.
